Confidentiality

The information you share with me remains confidential and I do not share it with anyone, with the following exceptions.

If you ask me to send information to someone, I will ask you to sign a release form to authorize my doing that. Also if you have been referred to me by a professional, for example your doctor, I will ask for your permission to acknowledge the referral.

At times, I might consult with another professional about my work with you but I would disguise your name and any identifying information.

Legal Issues:

By the law of Alberta, if I find out through you that a child is being abused, I must inform Alberta Child and Family Services.

I must also give a warning if someone's life is in danger, and I have to respond if I am subpoenaed to court.
